The Spider Man

The picture resource: http://b.1asphost.com/murdermus/pictures/Spiderman.jpg

I have seen all of Spiderman series movies these days. I am impressed with a sentence the character uncle Ben once told Peter Parker, the Spiderman, “The great power comes with great responsibility.” The sentence forces me to ponder for a period of time. Anytime, any place, if we are able to give those who need our help, we should give our hands without a moment hesitation. We have the duty to help them.
I think one day when I become a doctor, I should take on the responsibilities of patients’ health.

The Statue of Liberty

The picture is also taken by my cousin.

The France government gave the statue of liberty to America as a present on their 110 years anniversary of independence. The statue is made of a sheeting of pure copper, hung on a framework of steel with the exception of the flame of the torch, which is coated in gold leaf. It stands atop a rectangular stonework pedestal.

Worldwide, the Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable icons of the United States, and in a more general sense, represents liberty and escape from oppression. What a big present it is!!

N E W S

The picture is taken last year on our teacher’s farewell meeting.

These days, when I saw the news on the internet, suddenly I found out that my teacher was on TV. Teacher comes from Beijing, China. Rumor has it that he is the appropriative doctor of the leader in china and many celebrate.
My classmates say that he is one of the five most famous doctors of Chinese medicine in china. I am proud to be one of his students!

Grand Canyon

The picture is taken by my cousin. The scene in the picture is Grand Canyon.

About a week ago, one of my cousins went to the famous Grand Canyon in America. He put the pictures on his blog, and asks me to see them there. I have ached for a tour to the magnificent Grand Canyon since I was in my junior high.

I can still recall the time my geographical teacher told us that she had been there, and she really had a good time. At that moment, I told myself that one day if I have enough money, I will go there once in my life!

Last Sunday

The scene in this picture is Green Lake Park.

Last Sunday some of my classmates and seniors and I went to Green Lake Park in Neihu Taipei. The International Federation of Medical Student’s Associations-Taiwan (IFMSA) held a campaign to promote some correct health mindset to ordinary people. I served as a staff for the “Obesity Awareness Day”. Though the weather that day is very hot, I still happy to have such an unforgettable experience!!

One day I found that one of my favorite singers, Lee Hom, had recorded a music video for the song “A Simple Song”. He picked the scene in Chung Gung, my school. Sometimes, I think the scenes he chose are fantastic for taking music video. However, on my way to classroom, the scene is so familiar with me that I won’t pay attention to it. Maybe I am really too busy.

AS BUSY AS A BEE

I become very busy these days. Except for lots of tests and exams, I still have to do several assignments and attend my cousins’ weddings. To release the stress, I always sing songs in front of my computer.

PREMITIVE COUNTRYSIDE

The picture resource: http://heritage.news.tom.com/img/assets/200404/c796.jpg

This picture tells the simplicity of the country life. The scene is not strange to me, because I was born in countryside. Nowadays, due to the industrialization of the villages, the scene cannot be seen far and wide. If you want to enjoy a moment of peace from this picture, you just have to stare at it and use your imagination.

Now imagine you “walk into” this picture. On entering the scene, the two kids who are playing sands and talking may come to you and ask: “Where are you come from?” On your right side, you can see bamboos leaning toward the land and the fresh bamboo shoots on the ground were carrying out their “groundbreakings”. The gentle breeze slowly blows over the leaves of the bamboos, which makes slight sound.

On the left, there are piles of haystack lying on the ground. Those haystacks are used to burn to raise the essential nutrition of the crops growth and, they are also used to cover the seedlings, preventing them from roasting of the sun. Upon the haystack, you can see there stand several aigrettes. They are having their feast, the worms. When walking too close to them, they will flicker and fly away.

In the middle, there stands a buffalo by the side of the fence. When you step across the hedge, you will see a typical pastoral, a house that is surrounded by a large paddy field and an extent of bamboo forest. What a picturesque scene it is!

Sometimes, when you feel tired or annoyed, just take a look at this picture and use the method that is mentioned above to relax for a while.

"NEW NEIGHBORS"

The first picture: We invited them to take this picture at the night before they leave.
The second picture: They gave us souvenirs as their presents.

About two weeks ago, I had new neighbors. They are students from the mainland China. They planned to live in Chung Gung for two days only. On their arrival, A-tai and I decided to call on them. A-tai bought a lot of drinks to treat them. They also gave us some souvenirs as the presents. Then, we had a nice chat with them.

They came from Wu Han, and all of them are senior to me. I am impressed with a student who major in medicine. He is silver-tongued and has a sense of humor. He always makes us laugh out loud. He has the ability that I learn to gain. It’s really a pity that I couldn’t take picture with him on their last night. Anyway, we all had a great experience!!

HAVE A NICE DAY !!

THE PICTURE RESOURCE: http://991.com/newgallery/Bon-Jovi-Have-A-Nice-Day-335387.jpg

Lynn and I went to Taipei Chung Gung memorial hospital yesterday afternoon. This is the second time for me to be an apprentice; actually it’s the first time. Still, I was a little bit nervous and have looked forward to the day for a week.

On the connection bus, we talked a lot about our childhood. Sometimes, I am not good at chatting with girls, but I think I did it well yesterday. I found that Lynn loves to laugh, especially “laugh out loud”. I think she is innocent and easygoing, so we always can figure out something to chat.

Because A-tai and I had decided to converge on Taipei Chung Gung memorial hospital, so there are totally three students in this probation. In the probation, what impressed me the most was that an old patient’s son praised us for we are the most diligent students he had met so far. Of course, we all felt very happy! So we decided to have a big meal after the class.
We really had “three” good times. That‘s why I said “HAVE A NICE DAY!!”.

"The Picturesque Picture"

NO DOUBT!!
This picture of florescent sunflowers is taking in our campus!!

Yesterday when David and I were walking from the second medical building to cafeterias, the sunflowers which were in full bloom caught our eyes. Then, we strode toward it, and took some beautiful pictures there!

Sometimes, I am so busy that I always forget to slow down my fast pace and just look around and enjoy the graceful things which are by my side all the while. I think if I keep losing sight of those brave things, my life would be colorless. To prevent the bad situation from happening, I should learn to "cherish" those lovely incidents that fleet by!!

Wednesday 9 May 2007

Just keep it "LIKE" a diary!!

The figures in this picture are my cousins. They were in a downtown of Cincinnati. They are having tasty ice cream!

Two of my cousins went to America last Sunday. One is on business, and the other is ready to study abroad. They show me their pictures in America on the blog everyday. They said that the life pace in America is not as fast as which in Taiwan, of course except the big cities, such as New York, the Silicon Valley, Seattle…etc. I am so envious of their tours abroad! I hope one day I can travel where I want to visit!!

Happy Mother's Day

The picture resource: http://www.rlrouse.com/pic-of-the-day/mother-baby.jpg

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. I have asked many of my classmates whether they will go home this week. Most of them will go home this weekend. I am so envious of them, because my mom will go to Ping Tong on this weekend. Mom is going to be a matchmaker in my cousin’s wedding, which will be held right on Mother’s Day. It’s a pity that we (I have an older brother and an older sister.) can’t celebrate the Mother’s Day. But, maybe we can celebrate it some other day.

Have A Bad Day

The picture resource: http://singti.myweb.hinet.net/%A5%CD%AE%F0890924.JPG

I went to Taipei Chung Gung memorial hospital this afternoon. It’s the first time for me to be an apprentice. I was a little bit nervous. Actually, I have looked forward to the day for a week.

But…………..unfortunately, when my classmate and I arrived the waiting room of the teacher who I was supposed to meet, the nurses there told me that my teacher was off this afternoon. At that moment, both of us were so depressed. Then we began to plan going to somewhere in Taipei. But, because of the bad weather and of course “the bad mood”, finally we called off it, and then we just went back to school at about 2 o’clock. I can help but say today is not my day. But, there is one thing that I had learned from this lesson: maybe I have better to make a confirmation in advance the next time!

A Little Bit Tired

The picture resource: http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/~hyde/dan/Scott-tired.jpg

Today, I just finished the important mid-term exam of Chinese Medicine Diagnostics(中醫診斷學). I spent a lot of time studying it. I went to sleep late everyday in this week. Sometimes, I think it is my waste of time that elongates my bedtime. In dormitory, I usually chat with my roommates, use computer and, listen to music. Any one of these behaviors will distract me. I felt a little bit tired this week. If I want to improve this situation, one thing that I can try is move to another studying place. In my opinion, it may force me to focus on what I am doing.

Unwritten custom

In this picture, the girl next to me is my cousin. We took this picture in the ending of one of my cousin’s wedding feast!

This year, actually the half a year, in my family, five members will face the most important choice of their life, wedding”s”. The bride and the bridegroom to be are of the same generation with me. Averagely, they are nine years old than I. Most of them are sons or daughters of my father’s sister. When I was a child, there are a lot of activities, such as my grand parents’ birthday and many festivals, in the clan just like now. Because I used to be shy at that time, so they were unfamiliar to me. Not until I became “less “shy to “strangers”, I gradually knew them in detail.

In fact, in my family, there is an unwritten custom that you can not make girlfriends or boyfriends during your study, so nearly all of my cousins make opposite friends late when they have a stable jobs. But the “rule” becomes challenged when there are “counterexamples”, like my older brother. Now the seniors are not that strictly limit “remaining us”. They have liberal views about the normal development of boys and girls.

In my opinion, I don’t know whether it is good or not to us. But, maybe it's the time that I have to change my mindset just like my parents and aunts!

One of my favorite songs

I want introduce one of my favorite songs, “Bad Day”. It is written and performed by Daniel powter. Maybe you have heard this, but it's ok. I am going to introduce the music video of this song. I hope you can enjoy it!

The Music video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oIcFgl6zf3A

The lyric:
Bad Day-------------------------Daniel powter

Where is the moment we needed the most You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost They tell me your blue skies fade to grey They tell me your passion's gone away And I don't need no carryin' on You stand in the line just to hit a new low You're faking a smile with the coffee to go You tell me your life's been way off line You're falling to pieces everytime And I don't need no carryin' on Cause you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day The camera don't lie You're coming back down and you really don't mind You had a bad day You had a bad day Well you need a blue sky holiday The point is they laugh at what you say And I don't need no carryin' on You had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day The camera don't lie You're coming back down and you really don't mind You had a bad day (Oh.. Holiday..) Sometimes the system goes on the blink And the whole thing turns out wrong You might not make it back and you know That you could be well oh that strong And I'm not wrong So where is the passion when you need it the most Oh you and I You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost Cause you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day You've seen what you like And how does it feel for one more time You had a bad day You had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day

Wedding

Last Saturday must be the most important day for my cousin. He was going to merry his wife, my sister-in-law. I think it is my duty and pleasure to attend their wedding and I was so happy to do him a favor.
I can still remember when I was a child; he sometimes took “us”, including my siblings and other cousins to smolder some food, such as sweet potatoes and chickens in the field. In Chinese, we called it “烤窯”. We had a lot of fun at that time.
I appreciate him for he takes part in enriching my childhood. I congratulate him from the bottom of my heart! And I hope one day when it’s my turn to get married, he will come to my wedding and bless for us.

The little girl in this picture is one of my nieces. She is at the age of three.

My English Composition(Revised).......

How to Go to See a Doctor in Taiwan
When we feel uncomfortable, we will turn to a doctor. Take Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for example, if we want to see a doctor, there is a fixed pattern for us to follow.
First, make sure which department you are supposed to go. You can ask your family doctors in advance. They are familiar with your conditions and can make a rough diagnosis on your discomfort. Second, make an appointment. You can make a registration online or by a phone call. Third, make sure that you bring with your health insurance card, and wait for medical advice in waiting room. Then, the doctor will give you treatment. Before the doctor’s diagnosis, you have better to prepare what to say and how to express your symptoms properly to your doctors. Sometimes, the doctors may lose sight of some significant details. You can use this method to “remind” them. Fifth, take your receipt to the counter and pay for it. You still have to pay for your registration fee or other charges. Next, fill your prescription at the pharmacy. After that, you can leave the hospital and go home.
Be well prepared to see the doctor by following the procedure. You can get a proper treatment!picture resource:http://www.tlps.cyc.edu.tw/home/bird/091_4ab/Moving_dog/Sheng_Sin/Dinlio_Shengsin/54.JPG

BULLETIN!!

I always pay attention to the weather forecast. This morning, a bulletin caught my eyes. It forecasts that a strong sandstorm will strike Taiwan tomorrow morning.
The sandstorm is originated in Inner Mongolia. When a front went through the dry dessert, it brought tons of sands with it. When the sandstorm attacks a city, it will be foggy and the air was filled with lots of motes. The research also points out that the sandstorm may bring with lots of pathogens. It will do harm to our health, if we don’t take the precautions, such as wearing a mask. People who suffer from respiratory disease should avoid going out during these days as less as possible. A New Discovery

About two weeks ago, when I browsed through the news on the yahoo, I was quickly fascinated by the research. The research points out that the children who are in bad interactions with their fathers are apt to have worse performances in apprehension, logic, and intelligence than those who hit it off with their fathers. In short, their bad relations with their father will put a brake on the development of brain. They will be more aggressive and can’t get along with their sibling. In school, they will be categorized as uncompanionable guys. They even will be reluctant to take the charge for their mistakes.

The article resources from: http://tw.news.yahoo.com/article/url/d/a/070407/4/cl1a.html

After reading this discovery, I congratulate myself on that I am in good relation with my father all the way. He is just like my hero, my teacher, my older brother and of course my beloved father.

How to Go to See a Doctor in Taiwan
When we feel uncomfortable, we will turn to a doctor. To avoid burning the unnecessary medical resources and get a proper treatment, we need to make some preparations beforehand. In my opinion, we can reach the goal by obeying some principles.
First, ask your family doctor for opinion. They are familiar with your conditions and can make a rough diagnosis on your discomfort. Next, make sure which department you are supposed to go. Third, surf on the net or ask others to affirm which clinic or hospital is your best choice. Fourth, before making an appointment, one thing is important that you have to search out your health insurance card. Then, if you succeed to find out your card, you can make an appointment with the doctor. Finally, prepare what to say and how to express your symptoms properly to your doctor. Sometimes the doctors may lose sight of some significant details. You can use this method to “remind” them. After that, remember to bring some money and health insurance card with you. You still have to pay the registration fee or other charges. Above all, the most important thing is “Don’t be nervous. Just take it easy!” Be well prepared to see the doctor by following the procedure. You can get a proper and acceptable attention!

Julie, My Friend

Julie, a cute little girl, is one of my classmates. With jetty hair and bright eyes, she just looks like a pretty doll. She always wears a benevolent smile and is pleased to help others. That is why she has great relations with others.
Not like other freshmen, Julie makes it a rule to early bed and early gets up. I think that’s the reason why she can always concentrate in the class and have fair skin. Corresponding with her active character, she loves singing songs and dancing. She goes practicing with chorus nearly everyday. In the recently, our school’s chorus had won a championship in the contest. I think she must be very excited about that. She also attends the club of ballroom dancing. What a colorful life it is!
When we talked about our plans for the future, she told me that she would like to be a costume designer. This is not beyond my expectations, because she always comes up with a lot of ideas when we discussed some things. I sincerely hope that one day her dream will come true.

A Recommendable Movie.

The picture resource:http://www.miramax.com/quietamerican/
I went to see the movies in the library yesterday afternoon. A movie called “A Quiet American” impressed me a lot. It tells that the American plays an important role in disuniting the Vietnam. When Vietnam was fighting for independence with France, the “QUIET” Americans served as mediator or peacemaker. However, they sponsored the rebel force with lots of money and munitions “in the dark”. Finally they succeeded to force the Vietnam to go to war, the Metal Slug. In this war, many soldiers were killed. As a proverb goes, “The man who helps you in need might be your foe”. In this movie, it is self-evident that the American was the hiding enemy for Vietnam. In short, the director successfully described how “quiet “the Americans are. I was so happy to pick such a thought-provoking movie. It will make me deliberate for several weeks.

A little bit frustrated

The picture resource:http://www.virginiarealestatewebdesign.com/Frustrated.jpg

I still remember when I was in senior high school; I tried quite hard to better my English writing skill. I used to have a not bad grade on my English compositions. But as time goes by, gradually I think English is not that close to me as before. Now in the English-writing class, I feel I just like a fish out of water. Sometimes I try hard to recall my “memory” on it.
Because of lack of regular practices on English, I can not write a great composition now. I have got a “not good” grade on the recent composition. So I am a little bit frustrated. What bothers me the most is not the grade itself, but the hard work that I have to pay to rebuild my confidence on English. I am deeply convinced that only by practicing it regularly and exposing myself to it can I “regain” the ability in the short time. So, I make it a rule to reading two or three English articles everyday.
I can still remember when I was a child, I made a promise to my parents that one day I will accompany them to traveling around the world with my fluent English. I will try my best not to let them down.

Have a hair cut

The picture resource:http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/174460/2/istockphoto_174460_hair_cut.jpg
My hair was a little bit long and messy for me to “control” them. So I finally decided to have a hair cut in school. In fact, I used to have my hair cut in the neighborhood of my home. Though the price here is a little bit more than where I used to go, I think I should give it a try.
I was happy that I met a barber who likes to chat with her customers. She made me feel no pressure and behave naturally. To my surprise, she also comes from Chunghwa, my hometown. And this is the basement of what we talked about. We had a nice talk throughout the process.
Though I don’t know whether it is good to customers that the barber is not preoccupied with what she is doing, I still love the interaction between people.

Ps: now, my hair is too short. And it bothers me a lot.

2007.3.20

Hello everybody. My name is ken. I study in the Chung Gung University. This is a wonderful school, and I like this school quite a lot, especially the people here. Every one here is so friendly and nice. Even the birds and dogs here are also kind to me. I often hear they say hello to me. The dogs often want my food when I eat my meal in the restaurant. Should I give them my food? I always think about that because it is not so good at all. However, I decide to break the rules. Alough feeding them is not good for their health , seeing them happy is my best presents.

Last Weekend

Last Saturday afternoon, I was surprised that my phone rang in the acupuncture class. My relative invited me for a big dinner in Taipei .Then he ask me whether I could join them or not? I quickly gave him the answer “yes, I can” without even a second hesitation.
But there were still some works that I had to do in the weekend. Why I can reply so quickly and as if it is the only-one answer. I asked myself when I was waiting for the bus. “It’s important for me to maintain the relationship. I want to keep it warm.” Once again, I reply to myself rapidly. I am deeply convinced that my families outweigh everything.

The Definitions of Some Words

A "paragraph" is a group of related sentences about a single topic. The topic of a paragraph is one, and only one, idea. The first word in a paragraph is moved to the right about one-half inch. This is called "indenting" the first word. Also, there is blank space down both the left and the right sides of the page. These blank spaces are called”margins". Each paragraph that you write for this class should have a “title”. A title tells the topic of the paragraph in a few words. A title is short. It may even be one word. A title is usually not a complete sentence.
